This is one of the most financially accurate movies in the list with power-packed performances by brilliant actors such as Kevin Spacey, Simon Baker, Zachary Quinto, etc. The movie also won about 8 awards and was also nominated for the Oscars in 2012.

Starring Charlie Sheen and Michael Douglas, Wall Street is an award-winning movie you’ve got to watch without a doubt! It is a cult classic movie by the famous Oliver Stone and follows the life of an aspiring young stockbroker, whose ambition is to make it to the top, no matter what it takes.

Wall Street showcases the greed and hedonism that is commonly found in the field, but more importantly it also warns us about the dangers of insider trading. However, some of the crazy tips you can find in the movie continue to influence many brokers, analysts, and bankers even years after its making!

Trading Places is a humorous take on the chaotic life of a broker, with Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd playing the lead. The film revolves around the trail of events that happen after the lives of an upper-class commodities broker crosses that of a street hustler.

This award-winning movie may not delve deep into the finances, but there are several parts of the movie which accurately depict the events in the life of a broker. The film finds a great combination of great acting, nostalgia and also gives you a glimpse of the different kinds of lives led by those in the field of finance!

The Big Short was showered with so many awards, that it is hard to keep track. Christian Bale, Steve Carrell, Brad Pitt, and Ryan Gosling together, bring to us one of the best finance-based movies ever made! Based on the book The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine by Michael Lewis, the story is about three separate, but concurrent events where they bet against the investment banks to make billions of profits. It is set in the mid-2000s when the housing market crashed.

The film gives us a lot to observe and learn. It also cleverly explains several concepts such as credit default swap, sub-prime mortgages, bundling, and more. To top it off, these snippets are brought to us by other celebrities like Margot Robbie and Selena Gomez! The Big Short, with its stellar cast, is a definite must-watch in the list!

5. THE WOLF OF WALL STREET:

Martin Scorsese’s brilliant direction combined with power-packed performances from Leonardo DiCaprio, Margot Robbie, Jonah Hill, and Mathew MCaunoghey put together one of the best finance-based movies of all time. The Wolf of Wall Street is a biographical dark comedy that chronicles the life of a stockbroker based on the memoirs of Jordan Belfort.

The film brings out the unethical and corrupt side of Wall Street. But it also offers a lot to learn, such as the importance of loyalty, trust, and respect in the corporate world, and the sacrifice one may have to make in order to be successful. If you are looking for a fun yet intense movie to indulge in, this lockdown season, this award-winning movie is the one you have to watch!

Inside Job is an Academy Award-winning movie and without a doubt is one of the best movies that cover the topic of the financial crisis! This documentary film by Charles Ferguson, with narration by Matt Damon focuses on the global financial meltdown of the late 2000s. It delves deep into the events that led to the collapse. It features extensive research and interviews with journalists, financiers, politicians, etc. A major theme is a pressure exerted by the financial industry on the political process to avoid regulation and also the corrupt practices that eventually lead to recession.

The movie is an absolute must-watch for anyone out there with any kind of interest in finance or even political or economic interests. It uncovers various truths about the entire finance field as a whole and gives you a much better understanding of its ways!
